READING FOR MEANING BOOK-CLUB
“THERE IS NO FRIEND AS LOYAL AS A BOOK.” — ERNEST HEMINGWAY
Read to learn, read to grow, read to know our world -
Reading For Meaning is a space for young readers. It's a place where children come together each week to discuss, dissect and delve into a novel using inference, deductive skills and their knowledge of symbolism.
Comprehension isn't just about understanding a book, it's about understanding the world. In Reading For Meaning, children learn about their world by sinking into a novel over the course of twelve weeks, completing activities about the story, role-playing, sharing their love of reading, expressing their feelings, debating philosophical questions and relaxing from routine. If, at the end of the term, they still have something to say, they can join the termly KidzInk Education podcast, The Bookcase Kidz.
If ever there were a class to stimulate, promote and encourage young readers, it is Reading For Meaning.
